Okay, need an answer from you guys. The domain registration for both Simprograms.com and Sporeprograms.com are coming up in January. I’ll be renewing Simprograms, that’s a given. Not dropping the ball on this site yet (if I did, I’d most likely hand it down). But Sporeprograms, that remains unknown. Before dropping the money on renewing it for another year, I’m curious to know how many people actually use that address. It’s practically a redirect link that points to our Spore/Darkspore section – https://www.beyondsims.com/?cat=16.
Seeing as the Spore franchise is…well, not well known anymore, is there a point for me to keep the SporePrograms.com domain? Please weigh in on this issue with the comments. Thanks.
P.S. – As for the site…I think I’m going to take a back seat on news posting and let the staff do that. I seriously have a lot to do with the pages. Programs to add, tutorials to add and remove due to broken links, and of course, the game’s library to work on. I haven’t really been doing a good job on keeping track with all of that…
I’d say to not bother with it.
What might be nice for the site would be to have “tags” for all the posts. Therefore, if anyone wants to find a piece of information on “Spore,” they would just have to click the Spore tag and all posts tagged about being about Spore would show. That way, if people what specific information they can sort easily through it…otherwise, they can just look at the main page and see information about anything that has come out.
It could save money for you and time for us to just be easily able to find certain posts. Like you could have a tag for “Reviews” so all the reviews could then be found in one section.
Might be worth looking into? But yeah, as far as the Sporeprograms domain goes, I say just axe that and use the Simprogams for anything you want.
Also, this might help with people complaining about certain posts. You could have a miscellaneous tag where stuff like video game studio tours and other stuff that is not EA/Maxis related. Therefore, for those who have no desire to see that stuff, they could just click the tag for “The Sims 3” and would only get The Sims 3 data…nothing else.
You should leave it and put the time you have on SimPrograms. It’s such a good site.
Whatever you feel is best Jud.
you can already do this. Example: at the top of this post you see this “You are here: Home > Other > Site News > A question about SporePrograms…”. Home, Other and Site News are click-able as they are categories. If it said Home>Spore>New Patch, you could click “Spore” and then you would see all post in the Spore category. After doing this, bookmark that page and that’s the only posts you’ll ever see, you can do this for The Sims 3 posts as well. 🙂
I don’t know about you guys, but I would love it if they made Spore 2 with an improved creature creator and better gameplay. They could probably do a lot more now.
I never really looked or used the spore information on here, even tho I like the game xD
Well now I feel silly! I guess I’ve never looked up there since I just read everything you guys post haha 🙂
Like you said Jud, Spore seems to be no more. I’d remove the domain.
Hold it don’t drop it.
I have never been to SporePrograms before.
I’d make a Spore section, like someone said above – I don’t think it’s really worth a domain anymore, because it does seem to have been stopped.
I’m happy to help 🙂
Meh. I’m not into Spore and thus I never checked the site 🙂
I never checked it I played spore for like a few weeks when it first came out but it just never did it for me but just because I don’t play it/ like it doesn’t mean others don’t but I think to save money just add it all onto this site and call it a day.
Drop the site but keep the domain name. Else someone will use the name for some bad adsite.
