Today on SimPrograms… A New Poll Rises From The Shadows Like A Scorpion!

Time to take one last look at the old poll, toss it aside and drool over the new poll.

If you were a Sim, which town would you want to live in?

Awesome numbers this time, way better than the previous poll. And with that it’s time to move on.

This time we ask reboots, continuity and traditions in games. Check out the new poll, select an answer and tell us in this post how you really feel. :)

The game itself should go more back to its roots but I don’t like the whole “give reboots the exact same name as the original” thing. I always end up adding on something like the year it came out onto the reboot’s name so it doesn’t get confused with the original, like Sonic ’06 or SSX 2012. I’ll probably just end up calling it “The Sims 4″ anyway.

It would feel weird if Bella Goth weren’t in the next game, then again I hardly ever play as pre-made made sims. lol

Or with SimCity 5 being called SimCity. That and a new logo like they’ve “rebooted” the franchise instead of just picking up where SC4 left off.

Guys, it seems to be a trend after the 4th game, they do a reboot…look at capcom & DmC… Personally Sims is due for a reboot after the massive cluster fLuck that is sims 3. IMO, don’t stone me for it. don’t get me wrong S3 has alot of neat innovations scattered through it. but between trying to console-ize it and make it into a story telling tool, they’ve butchered it irrepairably I’m afraid. look at how many die-hard lifelong fans have called it quits with sims 3…

Why didn’t put “As long it’s good enough to be called ‘The Sims’ again.”? That would be the one I would haved picked!

You should have an option saying “Just as long as it doesn’t deal with social networks and Katy Perry, I am good”

  • http://Website Villamarilla

Rebooting is not exactly synonym of improvement. It’s the same EA, right? And doesn’t look like the social aspects and the tasteless business synergy are on the way out.

Villamarilla….you got me there….it is still EA, ssdd…same $hit, different day… ok then, they need other human simulations on the pc market that outdo EA’s. I’ve often wondered how EA cornered the market on sims and why no one else tried….look at all the god of war and call of duty type games on the market, knock-off d&d type games, theme park/farm simulators….but nary another people simulation game.

Didn’t really understand the options in the poll, the one I wanted wasn’t there.

Where’s the “I’d like that” option? You’ve only put “NO” or “Meh” or “What?” options. Not exactly a fair poll is it.

Personally I’m ok with it. Reboots do not necessarily mean everything is removed or changed with no resemblance to the older games.

I just don’t think “The Sims 4″ will work, but whatever, I just want TS3 to be over with.

I don’t like the idea of changing the name back to the same as the original.

There’s nothing wrong with “The Sims 4″. It sounds weird because we aren’t used to it, but I thought the same before “The Sims 3″ was announced. It sounded weird, but now I’m used to it.

Personally, I don’t like it when things revert back to their exact original name. It’s like when a TV series gets up to a certain number, then randomly becomes “Series 1″ again, when it’s still a continual process. The Sims is a game, and The Sims 4 wouldn’t be a remake of the original game, but would develop upon the features already brought about by The Sims 3, hence going back to “The Sims” would not make any sense.

Just because it could get called “The Sims”, does not mean EA are going to give us the experience we had with The Sims 1 and 2, and it isn’t going to change any of their business moves…

You’re missing the point. We don’t want The Sims 4 to develop upon the features in The Sims 3, we want completely new features, completely new gameplay and a completely new way to experience the game.

The Sims 3 didn’t sound weird because 3 never does, it’s like films, 3 sounds fine, but you hardly ever hear of a 4, and if you do, it just doesn’t sound or look right.

Besides, I think the time has come for The Sims to change it’s ways.

People make too much out of a name – because at the end of the day it is just that – a name. What really matters is the game content and how much the developers are actually passionate about what they are making.
