Since I was very young I’ve loved acting and film, this hasn’t changed and The Sims 3 is an excellent tool for this as well as the fun game play options it provides!

Looking around YouTube I’ve had the pleasure of discovering a variety of amazing machinima videos and decided to compile a Top 10 List for December 2012!

(10) Election Coverage Rallying the Voters – EA

I know its ‘EA’ but the guys that made this obviously had a lot of fun and it was quite amusing to see, especially Obama’s face at the end!

(9) Sunset Died -  SimsDream222

Not strictly Machinima since its a trailer for a world however the trailer looks awesome [as does the world] and really shows off how some of the cool effects in the expansion packs can look in a movie.

(8) Sweet Escape - berrypie27

Really fun video with a great soundtrack by none only than Gwen Stefani. Great use of camera angles and a selection of characters make this interesting to watch.

(7) The College Experience - ExperienceTheCollege

While there are a selection of voiced Drama’s for The Sims 3 I feel that this one has a very well thought out plot and an interesting array of characters and strays away from the usual ‘betrayal or slow camera depression’ series’ we often see.

(6) Writers Block - SIMul8rReviews

Created by Simp… sorry BeyondSims’ very own SeeMyu [now retired] writers block really captures the imagination of a writer and how they think, completely crazy and random but a somehow profound link to reality and what defines it. Great camera shots and effects really add to this movie.

(5) The Red Balloon – Part 1 - faalq

The Red Balloon is in effect a High School horror/drama and also makes use of voice acted Drama. Good quality sets and interesting characters and story make this an intriguing one to watch not to be missed. Second part coming soon.

(4) Katy Perry Wide Awake - nephetsyui1015814

Very cool how close this is to the original video, done in Sims 3, making good use of effects.

(3) Ghost Busters - EvinCryg

Another great Ghost Busters inspired creation here, looks awesome and the music fits perfectly. Well thought out scenes and character designs provide an excellent show!

(2) LOST - EvinCryg

Albeit with a controversial ending LOST was a TV show that capture the imagination of millions and had a huge cult following, including myself. The traileresque [yes I just made this word up] machinima offers an excellent recreation of the show and some of the key moments including, visiting the camp of the others and the submarine! A comic approach was taken this this one but it looks great and works really well.

(1) Silent Hill - EvinCryg

Based off the movies this is The Sims 3 reincarnation of the classic and its done very well, excellent sets and custom worlds (I think), good use of camera effects and custom content & animations. All of this adds up to make an excellent fan recreation of the movie! (It is Horror so if your easily freaked out…) Makes Number One primarily because its such an amazingly custom created set! While the lack of voice acting could be viewed as negative I personally feel it would have taken away from the overall feel of the film and made it appear slightly ‘tacky’. Overall an excellent piece!
