I'm a hip old granny who can hip-hop, bebop, dance til ya drop and yo yo, make a wicked cup of cocoa....actually, I think that's Mrs. Doubtfire.

Nothing spectacular about myself - I'm the webmaster of this site. Just your ordinary average nerd who loves EA/Maxis Sim games, Ghostbusters, Doctor Who, Back to the Future along with a slight touch of redneck-ness by raising/owning mules and a Dukes of Hazzard fan. Hee-haw and yee-haw :)

Bunch of Sims Swag (and games) on Ebay

Dropping another Ebay post – I have re-added all of the Console games that didn’t sell the first round (with proper shipping costs this time) as well as a ton of collectibles – frisbees, pencils, stickers, signs, keychains, flip flops, jewelry, shirts and even the Sims Plumbob USB Lights.

I ship worldwide (and offer combined shipping!).  Check out all that I have so far for sell here.  I still have tons more to add – but this is enough stuff for right now…the dude at the post office rolls his eyes whenever I bring a bunch of packages in XD

Hopefully these will make fellow Sim fans happy as it did for me. :)

Details on the future of SimPrograms *sticky*

Updated 7/31/12 – There is one thing I want to address due to some of the comments.  Some of you aren’t happy with the fact that this may be the 3rd/4th “We’re gonna close, no, we’re not.” post.  For that, I do apologize – it’s not my intention.  Let me make it clear, the whole closing thing is my personal feeling on the matter – it’s the staff that wants to keep it going.  Me, personally, would rather much hand the site over completely and let them go on with it – making changes, adding new staff members, etc.  Problem is, I made very bad decisions on the backend of this site to where I can’t just give the site over…

With WordPress, managing a site is suppose to be very simple.  My problem is, I took something simple, and made it complicated to where you’d have to be very good at knowing what you’re doing.  So, in order to fix my mistake, and to fully hand the site over to the staff, I have to go in and start with a fresh WordPress installation, set it up correctly – possibly starting fresh with having you guys re-register your accounts again, and a new easier to manage design.  As for all of the existing posts/pages – it may be possible to actually save them and import them into the new site – I’m in the process of talking about it with our tech guy.  So option 3 may be a go after all, keeping the name – and possibly the content, but getting things finally setup the way I should have always had it.  Then, I can probably leave peacefully and you guys can stop hating me 😛  -JUD

Cleaning out Sims Collection

Wow, it has been awhile since I last posted!  I’ve pretty much been out of the loop on all things Sims, and I hate to say it, but I am afraid I don’t miss it.  The only thing Sim related I am familiar with right now is SimCity Social on Facebook.  Yeah, I admit I hated it when it first came out, but it has improved some – you’re no longer spamming the heck out of your friends for one – it now lets you spam only those that play the game.  Plus, you can build a pretty good city without even paying a nickle.  It’ll hold me over until SimCity 5 is released.

Anyhow – enough rambling…I should get to the point.  I’ve collected a huge mass of various items, and at this stage in life, I’m questioning “for what purpose does this serve?”  It has dawned on me that for the most part, it just sits on the shelf.  Why let it sit there when there are people that could possibly make use of it themselves?  I need to stop collecting every tiny little thing/every single version and only get the items that either mean a lot to me, or have some sort of purpose.  So with that being said, I’m clearing out most of my Sims collection – only keeping the few things that have some sort of sentimental value to me.

Check out all of the goodies I have at the link below…well, some of the goodies – I have a ton more stuff to add, but keep checking, as I’ll be adding more everyday (with shirts, posters, and more!)

Ebay – Jud’s Sims Collection

Stepping down & some other notes

EDIT -November 2012: Spon1Player (Dan) is now the owner of ‘SimPrograms’, which has been branded to ‘BeyondSims’.

*Sticky announcement* I haven’t been participating much in terms of posting news, and there is a reason for that….as I said in some of the previous comments, I’ve pretty much been distancing myself away from Sims/EA.  I just don’t find the fun it in anymore, especially since most of the news coming out makes me want to rage and rant.  I’ve began to question myself – why bother with the supporting EA when they clearly don’t give a rip about us? (I’m speaking about EA in general, not the SimGuru’s – at least they are somewhat trying to communicate to the fans).  Why should I spend be constantly spending money on sub-par products that really don’t interest me that much anymore?  Why keep giving EA free press and the only form of communication are takedown notices?  I’ve pretty much had enough with the way the company is headed, so I’ve pretty much stopped buying their games and keeping up.

So, with that being said, it gives me two options:

  1. Close Simprograms and venture on to personal projects.
  2. Keep Simprograms open, but hand the site over to someone who still enjoys EA/Sim games.

Now, seeing as it’s always been about the fans, and that people still do enjoy reading the site (I’ve read some comments about how it’s dipped in quality and that some folks don’t really care for some of the staff here – and you’re very much right to express your opinion on the matter) it’s probably best to go with the second option.  So with that being said, I’m stepping down and handing over the site to Bryce (TheBlackScorpion).  He still very much enjoys the franchise, and even though some may argue that I should close it anyways, I think he can do a sufficient job of keeping the site up and going for you guys – providing you care to give him feedback when necessary (just don’t be rude about it, that’s one of my pet peeves).

I’ll still be around – probably drifting in the comments, but as for the Simprograms twitter, he’s pretty much using that now (my personal one is now set up in case you want to follow that) and give the staff a hand when necessary, but I doubt I’ll be doing much or any posting.  If you happen to have any requests or news, please pass it onto the staff members and not me.  As much as I loved The Sims in general, I think it’s time to move on.  I still love Maxis, and will support them on SimCity 5 – but more than likely I’ll be doing that by being an ‘average fan’ and not a webmaster.

SimPrograms Contest – MadCatz Sims 3 Illuminated Mouse giveaway!

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!  Please give me an hour or so to where I can gather up all of the entries, put them into a randomizer and draw out the 3 winners!  Will be announcing them shortly!  Whew, that took a lot longer then expected….I need to find a better way of doing drawings, lol.  Anyhow, the three randomly picked winners are:  hlchlebik, Raphael Gious and Amber (aka Queenblood_Imp).  Thank you so much for playing guys, I’ll get ahold of the winners to get the details and ship em’ out!  And if you’re able to purchase one yourself – do so, these are awesome 😀

Talk about an awesome company!  I don’t tend to get a hold of gaming companies to check in about giving away items, so it was a huge shock when I heard from MadCatz over the fact that they wanted to send me three Sims 3 Illuminated Mice to give away to our readers.  Of course, how could I pass up an opportunity like that?  I love giving things away to the readers and it’s not often I get to do it!  So with that being said (thank you, MadCatz!), 3 lucky readers will be randomly selected (because that’s easier for me to deal with) to take home one a brand new mouse!

Congrats EA – you are the worst company in America for 2012

I’ve been watching this contest since Day 1, hoping EA would take home the golden prize, and guess what?  They did just that!  Congratulations, EA – you were voted as the Worst Company in America for 2012 by The Consumerist!  It had quiet a challenge too.  Paypal, Bank of America, AT&T, Comcast…While all of those have perfectly good reasons on why they should be the worst company in America, the gamers united and gave this worth title to Electronic Arts.  While most Americans know the other companies are complete crap, I hope this will be publicized amongst many sites and uncover EA’s tactics when it comes to screwing over it’s consumers.

Anyhow, enough ranting – check it out for yourself!  I can’t wait to hear John Riccitiello’s acceptance speech!

Ponies, ponies everywhere

Time for a random post.

So I shared the following with pretty much all of my social media, guess I should do it here as well!  I’m into the craze that is known as My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic.  I don’t know how I managed to get sucked into it, I can’t remember.  It was last year though.  I gave the show a watch, and was instantly hooked.  Little did I know when I started researching it that it was by the same lady (Laura Faust) that created some of my favorite cartoons as a kid – Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Laboratory (well, her husband worked on that, but I think she did have a role), Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls… It all seemed so…familiar.

Anyhow, Bronies are what the adult fans of the show are called – the nickname dubbed for both sexes (although some of the ladies go by Pegasisters).  Many Bronies get hated on for liking a show that it’s original target was for kids, but the second season has shown a ton of hidden references for the adult viewers.  I mean, what kid is going to spot the Big Lebowski ponies?  LOL.

One of my personal friends is an artist in which she does amazing puppet/plush work, so I had commissioned her to create me a set of the mane 6 (I actually have a lot more ponies commissioned, but all in due time).  I met up with her this past weekend to get them, and all I could say was WOW!

My friend posing with the mane 6.  She can be reached over at Smits Stuff and is open for commissions!

Of course, the fine folks on my DeviantArt page always have something to say, and let me know that AppleJack is only suppose to have 1 ponytail, but I don’t give a single care in the world, to me she’s perfect.  😀  I had to build a whole ‘nother shelf in my room cause these things are huge!  LOL.

Behold of the most manliest display in the world.

Now I get to hunt down a hat for AppleJack (as she was short on time and wasn’t able to make one – which I’m perfectly okay with).  Any recommendations would be nice (I guess I could go to the Build-A-Bear workshop and see if they have any cowboy hats that size…

More detailed shots of each ponies can be found in my flickr gallery if you wish to check them out.

UK’ers…. I need your help.  I’m on the hunt for the following Blind Bag ponies from the Wave 3 collection – #11 Big Macintosh and #22 Heartstrings.  I am willing to purchase multiples.  There is a way you can detect which pony is in the bag by this number chart:

As I said, I’m looking to buy multiples – so I could use any and everyone’s help if they are willing to get those two for me.  I’d like them for myself, but I also have a few friends I’d like to gift them to as well.
