My blog, The Seventh Plumbob, is hosting a contest: A Story Without Words.
Stories don’t necessarily need words, and you’re being given the chance to prove it. In 3-5 photos, you can tell any story that you want; but no words are allowed.
If you win, you’ll receive 1000SP of items on your Wishlist and if you come in second, you’ll get 500SP! I hope to see you entering!

The Seventh Plumbob has a review up of Monte Vista, which I have made.
Monte Vista is the latest world to be released onto The Sims 3 Store for us Simmers to buy and enjoy. The world is Italian/European themed and features a small walled-in area at its centre! As usual, this review will be split up into different parts:
- New Items
- Woodfire Oven
The world itself is very pretty, and makes for some excellent screenshots (as you can see below) but it, after a couple of nights looking at it, has failed to excite me. It has a lot of potential for lot building, but you’ll struggle to build Late Night and Showtime lots that fit into the style of Monte Vista without getting frustrated.
Playability is also quite limited – the town has no real central park, and the official festival grounds released are quite literally at one of the farthest points in the entire world. The world is very spread out, making it quite difficult to actually get anywhere. Routing can also be quite difficult at times, with sims getting out of their taxis to walk along paths.
A new feature with The Sims 3 Seasons is going to be greeting cards which you can upload to the Exchange!
The Sims 3 brings you an innovation in terms of trade: The greeting cards!
Greeting cards are taken at specific locations:
- In small tents of various festivals.
- At the town hall.
- In school.
- In the science lab.

A preview of SimCity! (It’s real good )
A tall, bearded man welcomes us to the demonstration of SimCity, his caffeine energy betrayed by the dark circles under his eyes. Enthusiastic almost to the point of mania, this is a man who seems to offset the stress of developing a near decade-in-the-making god sim with the help of a 24/7 Red Bull drip. You can’t blame him.
Maxis producer Jason Haber might not have the weight of the world on his shoulders, but he’s juggling several entire cities set over a massive slab of grassland, and delighted in showing them to us one by one. The first is Transportopia, an industrial town under a crown of factory smoke. Wholly geared towards production like a Russian gulag based in Pleasantville, there’s an ordered chaos to the fleets of lorries delivering materials en masse to the hundreds of mills, plants and refineries which churn out steady streams of goods around the clock. This is where people make things.
SimGuruTaterTot v2 posted a thread about upcoming store releases… to summarise:

With Seasons just around the corner we are all disappointed that the expansion pack does not include greenhouses, but with the planters that came with Supernatural we can make our own greenhouses. So we thought to have a competition to use these planters to make a greenhouse.
We supply you with a house that has an empty yard, your goal is decorate the yard completely, with at least 1 greenhouse. The rest of the decorations are up to you, can be plants, trees, objects, pools, decks, ponds, whatever you want, you are also not restricted to 1 greenhouse.
You have to keep the floorplan of the house, which means you cannot remove any of the exterior walls or add to the original house. Feel free however to redecorate the house completely including removing interior walls, remove/add windows/doors whatever you can imagine to make the most gorgeous submission.
Nothing exciting really – a compilation of older sets (nothing actually new). Be careful before you buy it, in case you’ve got some of the compilation already!
Blast From the Past Compilation (2,600 SP) - Deck out your home in mid-century modern style! With neato dining, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom sets, your house will be ready for a swingin’, Simy good time!
